Dodging PM Thundershowers

Make a mental note, the second half of the upcoming week is going to be spectacular! First we must get through three more unsettled days, perhaps even a little rambunctious come late Tuesday. The morning hours are protected, but expect showers and thundershowers to fire each afternoon. A game changing front moves through Tuesday night bringing noticeably cooler and drier air beginning Wednesday.

It's Calendar time again! Through August 26, we are selling the 2019 Blue Ridge Parkway Calendar at the pre-publication price of $12. Order yours now at RaysMarketplace.Com. We will begin shipping them August 27 and they will begin appearing in stores around the same date.

The calendar contains over 50 photos from the RaysWeather.com Blue Ridge Parkway Photo Contest. But it includes much more--climate data, a Blue Ridge Parkway map detailing popular waterfalls, and even November/December 2018 calendar pages so you can begin using it soon.

Forecast Discussion

A moist airmass remains in place as a frontal boundary is draped across Virginia today. The front retreats north Monday making room for a potent cool front to come through late Tuesday night. All of that spells pretty decent rounds of PM showers and thundershowers between now and Tuesday, particularly Tuesday.

Behind Tuesday's front high pressure becomes the dominating force across the eastern half of the nation. Modified Canadian air takes the helm the second half of the work week with low humidity levels, abundant sunshine, and relatively "cool" days and nights for late August. It's gonna be awesome!

The high settles over New England next weekend in a week wedge configuration. Gradually a moist southeast flow returns and so does the opportunity for afternoon showers. It's not impossible that scenario gets underway as early as Friday, but we're keeping Friday dry for now. With the wedgie pattern (not that wedgie :-), temperatures remain in check through Saturday.
