Good Rain Coming

The story the first half of this week is focused around low pressure meandering up from the Gulf Coast and exiting the Mid-Atlantic coast Friday. Isolated showers & thundershowers develop late this afternoon and evening as tropical moisture begins to spread northwards. A few showers are possible late in the overnight hours as as well as the low inches closer. Tuesday and Wednesday have good coverage of showers and thundershowers keeping a lid on temperatures.

Today is the last day!
RaysWeather.Com has sponsored a photo contest and a calendar featuring photos from our forecast region for the past 15 years. The 2021 Blue Ridge Calendar Photo Contest will change the rules from the previous 6 years allowing photos from ANYWHERE across the Southern Appalachians in Western North Carolina or Southwest Virginia. A portion of calendars sales will be donated to the Blue Ridge Conservancy. Today is the last day to submit photos.

Forecast Discussion

If somehow you missed a shower over the weekend you will have your chance this week. Low pressure along the AL/FL coastal regions starts moving northeast today bringing a tropical stew of moisture with it. As we await the better catalyst for rain, today has isolated late-afternoon and evening thundershowers.

Tuesday and Wednesday have good coverage of showers. Some of which break loose quickly tomorrow morning, but the bulk of it comes Tuesday afternoon and night, and then again Wednesday afternoon. Clouds and rain will keep it less warm, though very muggy.

Once the low gets the NC coast Thursday we're back to just pop-up afternoon showers that afternoon and Friday. It will be warmer as more sun returns.

After a couple of days to "dry out" a front approaches Saturday prompting scattered PM showers followed by a quieter Sunday.
