The rain will end later in the afternoon, however. Saturday features variable clouds with perhaps a few snow flurries. Sunday will have a return to sunshine, although temperatures remain on the chilly side.

Forecast Discussion

Low-pressure organizing over Missouri today will head to the northeast, re-forming off the Northeast U.S. coast over the upcoming weekend. Clouds return and thicken today ahead of this developing system. Temperatures will be held in check by the increasing cloud canopy.

Rain returns overnight. It could briefly start as some freezing rain but this will end up being primarily a liquid event. It will be raw on Friday with the rain, and the morning rush hour will be a washout. There should be marked improvement for the PM commute home, however. Rainfall totals from this system could be an inch or more.

Colder air wrapping into the mountains on Saturday will generate some mountain show showers and flurries. Sunday starts with clouds, but we should have a good deal of sunshine for the afternoon, although high temperatures are going to remain on the cool side of normal.
