Happy Thanksgiving

Friday will be only slightly cooler than Thursday--still nice by late November standards. Saturday is another step cooler. Early next week has much more "interesting" weather. A potent low pressure moves from East Texas late Saturday across the Southeast Sunday and Monday. Rain develops Sunday afternoon (heavy at times Sunday night), then MUCH colder air arrives Monday. Expect show showers and flurries develop Monday night and continue into Tuesday. Significant accumulations are expected right along the NC/TN border.

The 2021 Blue Ridge Calendar is in stores now.  Visit RaysMarketPlace.com for a complete listing of retailers or purchase online.  A portion of the proceeds goes to support the important work of the Blue Ridge Conservancy.

Forecast Discussion

Happy Thanksgiving! Please make good decisions to keep your family and our community safe and healthy.

High pressure holds in the Eastern U. S. for one more day. Friday looks almost as pleasant as Thursday.

A secondary, dry front moves through early Friday morning from west to east. Temperatures Saturday will be another step cooler with some early clouds.

More "exciting" weather comes early next week. Low pressure builds in East Texas Saturday night. It moves northeast across the Southeastern U. S. Sunday and Monday. Very cold air will wrap in behind this low Monday. Sunday will be cloudy with rain developing late Sunday afternoon. Rain increases Sunday night, and showers linger into Monday morning. High temperatures Monday will be in the morning.

Then comes the cold. Snow showers and flurries develop Monday night. Snow showers and flurries continue into Tuesday (maybe into Wednesday morning). Significant accumulations are likely near the TN/NC border. Wednesday has cold temperatures with few clouds. Another wintry event is possible later next week.
